Longtime Springfield restaurant and bar Ebbets Field is under new management and looking to make some changes.
According to a news release the business sent out Friday, Ebbets Field will remain under the current ownership but will now be co-managed by Good Spirits and Co. and Fried Design Company.
Owner of Good Spirits and Co, Joshua Widner, and owner of Fried Design Co., Josh Sullivan, say they will work on creating one of the best Springfield sports bar and patio experiences.
Widner and Sullivan are involved in several other hospitality projects, including Sweet Boy’s Neighborhood Bar in downtown Springfield.
The news release says the new Ebbets experience will consist of a fresh, slimmed down menu with multiple draft beers, cocktails and frozen drinks. Ebbets will also feature a new interior with high-end technology for sports fans.
Widner said in the release he has a lot of fond memories of times spent at Ebbets Field.
“I remember growing up inside of Ebbets,” Widner said. “The past few months looking into this opportunity, and now developing it out has been exciting beyond belief. Our partnership together, and then with the ownership group, is what will build a new renewed enthusiasm behind this brand.”
Sullivan said they plan to enhance what people already love about Ebbets and introduce it to new customers.
“The idea is simply to clean it up a little organizationally and get it marketed for what we know about the community today,” Sullivan said. “We’ve all grown up together and built bars and restaurant brands all over the region for all sorts of folks. This is our go at doing it for a place we’ve all grown up inside of. We’ve all been together for so long, this was just the natural progression.”
According to the release, Ebbets it is set to open sometime this month and new hours will be Tuesday through Sunday from 11 p.m. to bar close.
